Empower yourself with the language of the Qurʾan. Our Qurʾanic Literacy program is designed to help students deepen their connection with the Qurʾan by immersing them in the divine words of Allah ‎ﷻ, introducing them to the beauty of the Arabic language, and strengthening their recitation skills.

Qurʾanic Literacy courses are offered both in-person and online.

These courses allow students to walk away with confidence as they apply the skills and knowledge learned when reading and understanding the Qur’an on their own. It stimulates their own spiritual journey and growth.

Spring 2026 Course Offerings:
Semester Dates: January 12, 2026 to May 14, 2026

  • QUR-101: Fundamentals of Qur’an Recitation

  • Days/Times: Mondays & Wednesdays - Onsite/Online

    • 6:00pm - 7:00 PM (Level 1)

    • 7:00-8:00 PM (Level 2)

  • Course Description: This course is designed to guide individuals in learning to read the Quran, regardless of their current skill level. The program focuses on mastering letter recognition, developing reading fluency, proper enunciation, and applying tajwīd rules. Through guided exercises, interactive activities, and individualized feedback, students will learn to recite the Qur’an properly with confidence and a renewed commitment to the book of Allah. (There are no prerequisites for this course).

  • ARAB-102: Building Blocks of Qur’anic Understanding 

  • Days/Times: Tuesdays 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM (ONLINE ONLY)

  • Instructor: Ustadha Fuseina Mohamed

  • Course Description: This course dives into the basics of verbs in Arabic. It builds upon the foundations covered in the Qur’anic Arabic for beginners course in which students studied the ism and nominal sentences. This course introduces students to the fi'l (verb) and verbal sentences. Students will study past tense and present tense verb conjugations, particles (harfs) that interact with fi'ls, and basics of translating verbal sentences. This course goes beyond theory, offering practical exercises and examples from the Quran in order to convey and solidify vital information. By the end of the course, students will develop core skills to identify key concepts in the Quran, deepening their connection with the divine message of the Qur'an.

    • *ARAB-101 is a required prerequisite in order to enroll in this course. 

  • QUR-102: Word for Word, Surah Az-Zumar 

  • Days/Times: Thursdays, 6:00 - 7:15 PM 

  • Instructors: Ust. Ayesha Baig & Ust. Samrina Qureshi 

  • Course Description: This course offers a word-for-word study of Sūrah al-Zumar, a chapter that calls the heart toward sincerity in worship, repentance, and returning to Allah alone. Through a guided workbook, students will unpack the surah’s vocabulary, key themes, and brief commentary to appreciate its linguistic beauty and spiritual depth. The goal is to build a personal connection with the words of Allah and internalize the message of turning to Him with a heart full of hope and humility. (There are no prerequisites for this course).

  • QUR-103: Qur’anic Supplications 

  • Days/Times: Sundays, 12:00-1:00 PM CT

  • Instructor: Ust. Fatima Lette 

  • Course Description: This course explores the powerful duʿās preserved in the Qur’an—from those uttered by prophets in their most vulnerable moments to those made by the righteous in times of gratitude and humility. Students will study selected supplications to understand their linguistic beauty, contextual depth, and timeless relevance. Through reflection and memorization, this course aims to help students internalize these prayers as living conversations with Allah, strengthening both knowledge and heartfelt connection to Him. (There are no prerequisites for this course).
